History of Andres Industries AG

Our company was created after our founder and today CEO, Björn Andres (actually approbated medical doctor), had a business idea in the late 90s: He was looking for a protective case for his Psion Organizer. The shortage of suitable solutions decided him into developing his own product, which immediately attracted the attention of other users of this device. An innovative business idea was born. The first sale of these cases started in 1999, while he was still studying.

Due to increasing success, the newly born company moved into today's head-offices in 2002 and hired its first staff member, who is still working for the company today. In 2003, Andres Industries AG, in cooperation with the US company Otter Products LLC, developed a watertight and impact-proof case: the Armor II. This strategic partnership is still active today. The following year, the first in-house designed rugged case was launched: the PALMCASE mini. In combination with the rising demand for protective cases, the demand for accessories rose as well. Therefore, we launched in 2003, in partnership with US company National Products Inc., flexible mounting systems: the RAM Mounts.

The year 2006 is characterized by two main events: our transformation into a joint stock company, and, in cooperation with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the development and manufacturing of the company’s first rugged industry PDA. The know-how gained in this project was reinvested into the development of own rugged products: The PALMCASE micro was launched in 2009, followed by the Case for iPad and the 800 family of rugged industry computers in 2010.
