Night vision fusion devices are the new standard for night operations and are used in various areas including military, emergency services and increasingly also in hunting. Certain challenges can only be overcome with the combination of the two leading night vision principles - image intensification and thermal imaging. Image intensification provides a basic representation of the surroundings, over which the fusion device overlays a thermal image. Due to the ability to integrate data from different spectral ranges, fusion devices can provide a more comprehensive and more informative image of the environment. This is especially useful in situations where conventional night vision devices are not sufficient because, for example, clear detection is required.
